Iwasn’t sure what was going through Everett’s mind, but all I could think was “Holy fucking shit.”

That was one thousand percent unplanned.

But holy fucking shit.

Being a proud wholesexual, I’d kissed men, women, and non-binary folks. Yet none of those past lip-locks could hold a candle to the heat of Everett’s mouth. His lips were a little bit salty and a little bit chapped. Probably from his nonstop talking.

In the Fast & Furious movies, characters will hit the NOS (nitrous oxide) button to give their cars a surge of power and pretty much make them fly.

Everett’s mouth was my NOS button.

Unfortunately, the moment had passed because he blinked at me like a queer deer in the headlights. His cheeks were a deep crimson shade I’d never seen before, and his pupils were ablaze. I couldn’t tell if he was horrified or hungry for more.

“That was a good game,” I said. “We won.”

I pointed at the row of TVs, where the Wolves congregated on the field, and Lincoln was being interviewed by a reporter. He seemed uncomfortable having to speak in complete sentences, when it was so obvious he wanted to go wild and celebrate.

Same, pal. Hard same.

The energy in the bar calmed down. People closed their tabs and drained the last of their beers.

“What happens after the game is over? Is there an afterparty?” Everett looked at me for a second before turning his attention to the TV.

I watched the TV too. Eye contact felt…weird.

“No afterparty. People usually go home. At certain bars, after a victory, it becomes an all-out party.”

“I’m not really feeling an all-out party.” Everett rubbed his neck. “It’s a school night.”

“Yeah. I should get you home.” My breath hitched in my throat. I did not mean for that to be loaded with sexual innuendo.

Everett’s neck was a bright red usually reserved for the most severe sunburns.
